There we were on a Thursday night, playing around Jon's new sign by the newsdesk table, and up popped Fobes. The guy had the night off, but when food and a coat mysteriously showed up in front of his sign, there he was coming out of the bottle of something from Sea World to bark at us. Happiness is a uncluttered table.

You never know what you'll find cruising over the Newsdesk at night. Just the other day, Jon Fobes spotted this very ripe packet of mayo looking to burst on the scene. Ever the chef, Jon tried to see if someone wanted some with their dinner. Alas, he was rejected and dejectedly contributed it to Ron on his nightly visit.

Well, it was more than 3 years in the making, but now it is official: Haki asked "the question" on Tuesday night, July 12, at the memorial fountain in lovely downtown Cleveland, and Katie said, "Yes." Did Haki get down on one knee? Yes! Have they set a date? Sort of, some time in 2007.

"We're both very happy and very excited and thrilled to do our part for diplomacy," Haki said. Katie lives in Australia.

I was taking some pictures of Kim last night. Lots of pictures! When things got a bit crazy. Here's how it went:

1. Kim goes crazy with all the flashing.

2. Kim demonstrates how she's going to strangle me.

3. Kim decides to call in an enforcer instead of killing me herself. She doesn't want to lose that job at the New York Times over a little murder charge: Note the DOUBLE raised eyebrows!
